Section #5: Weekly Prayers

This section is pretty self explanatory.  I keep pages here for different categories of requests and choose one page to pray through each day of the week.  These categories include: Family, Friends, School and Church, State and Nation, and the World.  I have also added a separate section for my Community Group and my Neighbors.  You can add whatever categories you would like!  My husband has more than 7 pages and prays through a couple sheets a day.  He has pages for Non-Believers, Co-Workers, Workplace, etc.  There’s no magic pattern here!  You’ll work out a rhythm that works for you.  The idea is to be strategic, specific, and consistent with my prayers, while also making it do-able.  Praying for everything every day seemed a little overwhelming to me, so I broke it down into daily chunks.

When I pray at night, I like to come to these sections and add requests as they came up during the day.  If I read a troubling news article about new laws being proposed in our state, I’ll add those details to the “State and Nation” page.  If I had a conversation with a friend and promised to pray for her, I’ll add her request to my “Friends” page.  If I got a letter from our sponsored child with a specific request, I’ll add that to the “World” page.  You get the idea.  Visiting this section daily serves as a reminder to record the requests I thought to pray for during the day.

I like closing with this section because it’s important to get out of our own little world sometimes and remember the problems others are facing.  Tends to put my potty training woes into perspective pretty quickly!

(Note: If you choose to purchase an extra set of tabs, you can divide these pages by days of the week and have a section for each day.  It's a little extra cost, but I personally prefer that organization to make each day's prayers easy to find.)
